General Summary:

Identify, define, implement and track process improvement efforts within the business unit.  This will include, but is not limited to, defining current business processes, system utilization and the exploration of new processes and tools.  Works in direct support of marketing, engineering and manufacturing initiatives to increase productivity, increase capacity, shorten leadtimes, reduce costs, reduce errors and standardize product & processes. The BPI Specialist will help drive the business unit to further utilize the current set of system tools as well as to develop new and more productive ways to use the various systems.  This position is a critical link between our corporate IT/GEMS teams and every day business unit operations.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with Business Unit Managers to develop and prioritize an on-going list of projects.
  • Participate in or lead several projects that relate directly to customer satisfaction, productivity gains and/or cost savings.  
  • Work with marketing, engineering and manufacturing to define bottlenecks and other opportunities for improvement within the Business Unit. 
  • Work closely with the corporate IT teams to assist in the definition of system requirements to support process improvements.
  • Translate business requirements into system specifications.
  • Assist, as appropriate, in the definition and implementation of specific IT initiatives.
  • May supervise support staff
  • Audit existing business processes to ensure documented procedures and best practices are being followed.

Business Unit Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with readiness for plant expansion projects
  • Responsible to track and maintain consistency of manufacturing processes throughout Accurex manufacturing locations
  • Develop and conduct appropriate training
  • Manage moderate to high impact projects

Job Qualifications: 

Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year college program.

Between 1-3 years of work experience is required.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects required. 
  • Experience blueprinting, gathering business requirements, documentation and training preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • High level of analytical skills required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess strong leadership skills and excellent customer service skills.
  • An understanding of supply chain management--including inventory management, manufacturing principles, quality management and purchasing. 
  • Engineering or manufacturing background, as well as familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts required.  Desire for a minimum of 2 years of internal Manufacturing Experience.

Business Unit Specific Qualifications:

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing practices a plus
  • Must have the ability to work in a collaborative environment and independently
