General Summary:

Assist in the design and development of products, machinery or tooling. Conceptualize, design and develop, in coordination with other product development personnel, new and changed products, parts, machinery or tooling. Tasks are handed down to the Designer III in the form of results expected. Tasks can be in the form of non-standard work assignments. Work may include but is not limited to: concept and product modeling in 3D, some component selections/sizing, some testing as required for new products and or field related issues, drawing changes/revisions, IAN's and/or other documentation.

 

Business Unit Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

 
  • Design New and Refurbished Equipment and Tooling for Manufacturing
    • Produce accurate prints with required tolerances ensuring assembly and interchangeability
    • Produce accurate workable 3D models
    • Design and specify hydraulic and pneumatic systems
    • Design for ergonomic and safe work stations
    • Create designs that meet project scope functionality and cost targets
  • Project Management
    • Communicate across multiple disciplines (Product / Manufacturing / Controls Engineers, Tool & Die / Maintenance / Machine personnel)
    • Develop project scope and written specifications
    • Order components and materials on a timely basis so that everything is here when needed
    • Schedule end of project activities (Safety sign-off, Machine run-off, Shipping)
  • Support/Customer Service
    • Support the shop for fabrication and assembly issues
    • Support business units with equipment breakdowns, process improvements, LEAN manufacturing items
    • Assist with testing, training and final run-off of the machine for the customer
  • Project Documentation
    • Assist with PM (Preventative Maintenance) documentation prior to shipment
    • Assist with MSLP (Safety Documentation) creation to identify energy sources
    • Assist with the creation of operational procedures
    • Create maintenance manual
    • Update prints and purchased items lists
 

Job Qualifications:

Work requires extensive technical or specialized training such as that which would be acquired in the first two or three years of college or technical school.

Between 3-5 years of work experience is required.

Knowledge of CAD systems (AutoCAD and Inventor Preferred). No knowledge required of the products or systems but it is STRONGLY preferred.
