General Summary:

Role is responsible for the accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness of freight costing. Individual will drive process improvements though data review, documentation and cross functional communication. Position consists of daily and weekly tasks in addition to one time projects supporting all Greenheck Group business units.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process daily 3PL invoice file to assign freight costs to correct business units
    • Identify any invoices that we should not be paying
      • Examples are: shipments that should have been sent freight collect and not to our 3PL, vendor setting up shipment with 3PL when they should be Prepaid, carriers billing incorrect amounts, etc.
  • Process weekly FedEx and UPS invoice files, assign freight costs to correct business units
  • Lead the month end accrual process. Happens during the first three business days of the month
    • Develop process to reduce this effort to one or two business days
    • Develop process to improve accuracy of the accrual to better match the actual freight invoice when it eventually arrives
      • Collaborate with Greenheck Group users, 3PL, and other parties to improve business processes that negatively impact the accrual and actual freight costing
  • Initiate cross functional projects with IT, Finance, Operations and other functional areas for process improvement and cost saving initiatives
    • Brainstorm opportunities and fixes
    • Testing
    • Implementation
  • Follow up with business unit, management, and other employees on inquiries related to freight costing
    • Data generation may come BI, SAP, 3PL system, and/or other systems
    • Develop reporting to provide freight cost by sales order capability to ensure the BU has proper alignment with product pricing.
  • Drive cost savings initiatives with transportation 3PL and partner carriers
    • Manage credits and claims to guide finance in posting to the correct business units
    • Create BU freight cost assignment report to send to 3PL for them to generate month end freight cost reports for each BU
    • Use 3PL’s cancelled load report to get the right 3PL load numbers on the right Greenheck shipment numbers for the invoices from 3PL to process properly
  • Work closely with logistics transportation team at NDC to: understand how carrier pricing or operations changes will affect invoicing and freight costing accuracy
  • Work with shipping personnel at all Greenheck Group facilities for questions, concerns, issues, process changes, and other related inquiries
  • Work with Helpdesk personnel, shipping location personnel, and parcel carrier personnel (FedEx or UPS) to help fix software issues with parcel systems when they are not processing correctly

Job Qualifications:

  • Position requires a four year degree in business, Supply Chain, Operations Management or related field.
  • Requires 3 to 5 years progress work experience.
  • Requires a strong systems aptitude and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work in cross functional teams as well as work alone on tasks
  • Ability to work with internal and external customers, carrier personnel, 3PL personnel, and other third party organizations
  • Multi-tasking and organization skills
  • Periodic travel is required
