The Materials Manager will direct and coordinate inventory and materials management for the ACAP division, ensuring the reliable availability of parts and raw materials to manufacturing, in order to avoid material shortages and delays.

Provide leadership and direction in the continuous development, improvement, training and execution of inventory and materials management systems, processes and procedures.

Provide coordination and direction of activities in support of our multi-plant environment through designated materials specialists in each location.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the reliable availability of parts and raw materials to manufacturing in order to avoid material shortages and delays.
  • Continually develop, refine, and improve the materials and inventory management systems for the business unit, while coordinating with the corporate SAP and purchasing functions.
  • Provide ongoing divisional oversight for SAP master data management.
  • Identify and implement recommendations and justification for future system enhancements.
  • Participate with the SAP Material Management (MM) Team as the business unit leader in providing direction during ERP implementations and enhancements.
  • Identify, develop and implement material planning and replenishment strategies.
  • Establish, track, audit, and report Business Unit inventory and materials management KPI metrics. (Inventory turns, record accuracy, material utilization, etc.).
  • Direct and monitor cycle count activities along with corrective actions for the division.
  • Direct and coordinate stocking and replenishment requirements among divisional material specialists.
  • Develop, maintain, and oversee inventory and materials management related training required for shop floor, supervisory and material specialist personnel within the division.
  • Maintain and assure all system procedures are documented, distributed, and followed consistently throughout all ACAP facilities.
  • Lead task forces, teams, and Kaizen events dealing with inventory and materials management related issues.
  • Provide business unit leadership in the development and sustaining of accurate material related costing initiatives.
  • Provide divisional oversight in the management, reporting, and reduction of scrap and material utilization improvements.
  • Provide divisional oversight in the coordination of engineering changes between all functions (planners, product engineers, BOMs, and buyers) ensuring smooth, efficient, and timely model and component conversions while minimizing scrap and obsolete inventory.
  • Provide divisional oversight in the coordination of materials, policies, and procedures supporting international business partnerships and manufacturing locations.
  • Identify and implement divisional benchmarks and best practices among the ACAP facilities.
  • Direct, coordinate, and monitor year-end cutoffs, test counts, and audits for the division.
  • Work with purchasing in the qualification of new suppliers and the resolution of delivery and quality issues.

SPECIAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work requires a professional level of knowledge which is equivalent to a 4 year degree in a related discipline
  • 5-10 years of progressively more responsible work experience
  • Strong a analytical, communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Previous supervisory experience is necessary
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
