General Summary:

The Project Estimator’s primary responsibility is developing profitable sell prices for commercial building construction projects. Responsibilities include representative/customer interface, developing detailed material and labor estimates for architectural products, reviewing proposed designs for constructability, value-engineering and contract negotiations.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Interpret architectural drawings to take-off quantities and sizes from plans utilizing estimating software
  • Prepare estimates for louvers, sun controls, equipment screens and grilles including review and compliance of specification and contract documents
  • Determine bid scope and define bid solutions including identifying value engineering opportunities
  • Solicit subcontractor bids to support project quotation
  • Communicate and negotiate bid to external customer
  • Strong communication with Project Manager and project team
  • Maintain records of all significant customer contact
  • Identify and establish project cost control methods as well as redefine these methods for change order management

 

Job Qualifications: (Right-Click for Options)

  • Must have a minimum two-year architectural engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
  • Entry level - 2 years of construction estimating experience preferred
  • Preliminary understanding of project pricing
  • Basic structural analysis knowledge
  • Basic understanding of construction materials and methods
  • Computer application proficiency in Word and Excel

 

Business Unit Specific Qualifications:

 

  • Knowledge of aluminum glazing systems and their applications would be beneficial
  • Ability to multi-task, creating multiple bids while meeting customer deadlines
  • Knowledge of Computer Aided Product Selection (CAPS) would be beneficial
