The Test Tech will perform testing on products to AMCA, UL or company standards and provide test data and inspection results for products to ensure they meet documented requirements and quality standards.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct physical inspections of products and set up and conduct performance tests to appropriate standards and procedures. Communicate results and provide feedback to design teams or outside agencies.
  • Moderate Analytical Ability required.  Analysis requires breaking down of information to determine its elements, historical comparisons, interpretation of data to identify trends in situations where the problems are somewhat complex.
  • Knowledge of machine tools used in sheet metal fabrication and welding.  Test equipment, basic diagnostic tool familiarization and computer skills are required.  Familiar with testing protocols and quality standards.
  • Provides feedback to engineering design teams on product designs based upon test results and experience.
  • Identifies Bill of Material errors and communicates them to engineering design teams or manufacturing leads.
  • Works with design team regarding prototype designs or modifications to existing products to be used in production.
  • Provides feedback on performance or suitability of purchased components used during testing.
  • Provides feedback from test results on prototype parts or assemblies.
  • Primary function is to test standard production and prototype units and provide documented feedback as to their performance.
  • May support witness testing as directed or testing required for outside agencies or competitor evaluations.
  • May provide technical direction to shop floor personnel to correct issues on test units.  Communicate design problems to appropriate engineering personnel for corrective action.
  • Provide standard documentation on pre-determined tests required for production or certifications.  Assist in the collection of non-standard test data as directed by the design engineering team.
  • May assist in the resolution of field problems by traveling to the site with other engineering staff as needed.
  • May participate (help) in value engineering projects to continually improve the cost efficiency of company design and manufacturing processes
  • Sets up and runs tests required for outside agencies or outside customer requests.  Provides documentation and interpretation of the results.
  • May assist with the investigation of returned good to identify design problems or product defects.  May also duplicate field problems for further investigation.
  • Requires basic fabrication shop skills and welding capability.

Job Qualifications: 

Work requires extensive technical or specialized training such as that which would be acquired in the first two or three years of college or technical school.

Two or more years hands on internal quality or test environment within or three plus years of similar outside experience.
