General Summary:

The primary focus for this position is to ensure regulatory compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations at a federal, state and local level and to provide support and resources to all B.U.’s in support of Greenheck’s goal of providing employees with a safe and healthy work environment. This position will be based out of our Shelby, North Carolina location but will be responsible for supporting our Kentucky location as well.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage the maintenance and implementation of safety programs, regulatory compliance, and pertinent EHS initiatives
  • Lead the investigation of incidents and ensure CAPA’s are completed to minimize future exposures and proper records/documents are maintained
  • Conduct routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company EHS policies, procedures and practices
  • Provide personnel with comprehensive and relevant information and training on EHS systems and procedures, including advising on equipment purchase and workplace practices
  • Design and deliver training sessions on key areas of production activity in relation to EHS and support the delivery of other training programs, including new hire onboarding and monthly safety meeting topics
  • Maintain internal and regulatory reporting including data collection and reporting including but not limited to air, storm water and surface water discharge
  • Ensure the company meets regulatory compliance obligations with federal and state OSHA/EPA
  • Serve as liaison for all regulatory agencies
  • Keep abreast of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization
  • Support Greenheck’s mission to provide a safe and healthy work environment
  • Participate in meetings to discuss workplace safety and regulatory concerns and opportunities
  • Actively role model all company environmental, health and safety standards
  • Support regional operations in all aspects related to EHS/Facilities initiatives
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with Operations, Plant Managers, Supervisors and production personnel
  • Inform plant managers and supervisors  on matters relating to, environmental, health and safety and provide possible solutions
  • Contribute ideas, suggestions, and recommendations for the development, progress and improvement of the EHS Department in daily operations and future growth
  • Perform special projects as required
  • Required travel 20%

 

Business Unit Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Establish a strong alignment with Business Unit leaders and floor team members
  • Assist in conducting EHS monthly audits, identifying violations and applying abatement periods
  • Train and educate production and management personnel specific to the regulatory requirements under OSHA, such as LOTO, HazCom, Material Handling, Inspections, Incident Investigations etc. and Greenheck’s Corporate P&P’s
  • Train and educate Safety Teams following Greenheck’s corporate directive
  • Engage business units in the investigation of incidents and ensure CAPA’s are completed to minimize future exposures and proper records/documents are maintained
  • Participate in meetings to discuss workplace safety, environmental and facilities concerns and opportunities for improvements
  • Provide immediate direction to outside contractors and must be able to clearly explain the needs of project and expected outcomes

 

Job Qualifications:

  • 5 - 7 years’ experience in manufacturing environment with responsibility for Environmental, Health and Safety
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both management and floor team members
  • Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Word, and Excel applications
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Analytical problem solving, written and verbal communications
  • Ability to be on call or work off hours as needed
  • Experience working with local regulatory agencies preferred

 

Preferred Qualifications or Attributes:

  • ASP, GSP, or CSP certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in EHS field or equivalent
  • Experience in a manufacturing operation
  • Multi-Site responsibility
