Greenheck Fan Co-op Program:

Application Engineer Co-op

General Summary:

Assists product manager in the areas of product planning and development, coordination of application support, special designs and product and application training programs for the respective product family and its channels


Update Competitor Cross Reference Material. Energy Analysis Report on Vari-Green available in CAPS. Small, focused projects that can make marketing more efficient. Automate Customer Service Tools to help solve the reps questions faster: Drive Selection and change out, Motor Drawing / Wiring Diagram / Spec Sheet, Fan Curve Generator with ability to enter field T&B values. Organize folders and labeling by unit/model of shop photos (taken by Mike) to be used as a reference tool/ provide to reps (picture library of actual units and installation). Verify that all catalogs and IOM’s are listed correctly on Greenheck.com under all FV product models- update as needed.


Application Engineer Co-op-Accurex

General Summary:

Provide technical coordination of application support, product planning and development, special design support and application training programs for internal and external customers. Assit with the day to day support of Accurex products using current programs with the opportunity to review and revise current systems to improve the customer's experience.


Provide technical support via phone and e-mail for both internal and external sales people in the areas of product selection and application. Develop solutions for product applications. Communicate solutions for unique applications including design & special pricing. Find solutions to field application problems. Provide general product application support.  Understand requirements for challenging applications. Provide content for the development and updating of product literature, including the creation of training curriculum. Responsible for identifying key selling points. Gather information for market studies. Work with engineering to develop scope for enhancements on existing products. Assist in the evaluation of components for quality, reliability and performance and advise engineering/purchasing as to those components, which might enhance the product. Become familiar with the competitor's products and apply this knowledge to the company's advantage. Orangize and present training seminars internally and externally. May assist with planning/coordination and attendance of trade shows. Coordinate Computer Aided Product Selection (CAPS) planning, testing, and development. Use CAPS to assist internal and external customers on a daily basis.


Product Development Engineer Co-op

General Summary: Assist the product development engineer through all stages of product development.  Aids in the development of new products, redesigned products, and special design requests.  Participate in cost reduction and quality improvement projects.  Provide technical support for shop floor problems and field problems.

Responsibilities:  Participate in shop floor problem resolutions.  Assist in field problem resolutions which may include travel to jobsites and interfacing with customers along with generating a corrective action to reconcile any outstanding issues. Participate in value engineering projects.  Aid in agency approval of products including AMCA and UL.

Assist with laboratory testing of products which includes: structural, electrical, air performance, and sound performance testing.  Interpret test data, write technical reports and communicate results to engineers.  Fabricate and assemble new product prototypes and provide feedback regarding designs.

Typical Projects: Product testing, product demonstration design/construction, engineering documentation, product design/re-design, analysis of returned goods and value engineering projects




Test Engineer Co-op

General Summary:  Responsible for building prototypes, conducting tests, and documenting test results. Position will be nearly entirely “hands-on” working in the engineering test lab.


  • Assist in the development of new products and support of existing products through R&D testing of products.-Work with engineers in determining test procedures and expected results.
  • Identify issues and propose solutions based on test results.
  • Design and Assemble test units and set up tests.
  • Document test results.
  • Maintain a safe and clean test lab.

Typical Projects:  Conducting performance tests such as airflow, heating, cooling, sound, wind driven rain tests. Assist with prototype builds and test setups.  Other testing includes component testing, field problem testing, and value engineering testing.


Manufacturing Engineer Co-op

General Summary:  Enhance factory productivity, cost reduction and Greenheck product quality through the analysis, continued improvement and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, material flow, plant layout, methods and product design.

Responsibilities:  Support Greenheck Production System (GPS) including: Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Design for Excellence and Maintenance Excellence.  Improve manufacturing efficiency by improving work methods, labor standards, material flow, and routings. Work with shop floor personnel and design engineers to decrease costs, increase production, reduce waste and refine product design. Develop standard operating procedures for various manufacturing processes.  (SOP’s) Provide analysis data to procure new or upgrade equipment and tooling to achieve maximum capacity, productivity and cost reduction.

Resolve current continuous improvement projects. Resolve corrective action requests. Continually improve Greenheck designs.
