Manufacturing Engineer Co-op

General Summary:  Enhance factory productivity, cost reduction and Unison product quality through the analysis, continued improvement and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, material flow, plant layout, methods and product design.


  • Support projects related to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Design for Excellence and Maintenance Excellence as well as safety. 
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by improving work methods, labor standards, material flow, and routings.
  • Work with shop floor personnel and design engineers to decrease costs, increase production, reduce waste and refine product design.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for various manufacturing processes. 
  • Provide analysis data to procure new or upgrade equipment and tooling to achieve maximum capacity, productivity and cost reduction.

Typical Projects:

Resolve current continuous improvement projects. Resolve corrective action requests. Continually improve Greenheck designs. 



Technical Service & Parts Engineer Co-op

General Summary: Assist the technical service and parts team in all work functions.  This may include the creation and analysis of service data and fulfillment of Parts and RGA requests. 


  • Assist in plant check/test/start-up of units prior to shipping to customer job site.
  • Responsible for word processing and spreadsheets, CRM and document management as it relates to service reports, and documentation of procedures.
  • Work with UCT parts group on securing and processing parts orders. Assist in field problem resolutions which may include travel to jobsites and interfacing with customers along with generating a corrective action to reconcile any outstanding issues.
  • Education of field service personnel, contractors, maintenance personnel, and other end users on proper product maintenance and services practices.

Typical Projects: Product testing, engineering documentation, product design/re-design, analysis of returned goods and parts/service data.






Product Development Engineer Co-op

General Summary:

Produce designs and redesigns of new and existing products to complement and enhance product offerings and continually improve quality.  Minimize production costs and sustain a competitive advantage in the air movement and control industry


  • Develop new product designs and redesigns in coordination with sales, marketing and manufacturing functions
  • Develop bill of materials and translation documents related to new or changed designs
  • Oversee the transition from design into production, including any necessary testing and training required for implementing new or changed designs
  • Evaluate material selection, cost analysis, and vendors as required to implement new designs.  Review, along with purchasing personnel, the selection and specification of new purchased component parts for product designs
  • Oversee the prototyping and testing of new designs, including the interpretation of test results.  May be required to set up and run test equipment

Conduct and/or review the testing of new designs, interpreting test data and recommending and/or implementing necessary corrective action based on test data.  Will interface with agencies associated with certifying products

Typical Projects:

Bill of Material creation for HVAC product in a production engineering environment; value engineering at the project and product levels; factory issue resolution and root cause analysis; and process analysis and improvement activities.
