General Summary:
Directly supervise the receipt of purchased and manufactured parts and material. Support corporate net sales objectives by striving to continually meet or exceed company goals by providing timely distribution of materials/parts to the various manufacturing areas. Ensure that inventory accuracy goals are met and maintained. Ensure that strategic material planning processes are in place to enable operational and production continuity. Takes a lead, working closely with internal and external parties to ensure supply of materials is in place to satisfy production requirements. Able to deliver efficient, effective and flexible solutions to meet production requirements.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure accuracy and timely receipts of inventory manufactured and purchased parts.
- Ensure the availability to manufacturing areas of parts and raw materials to ensure production delays do not occur, through organized stocking, labeling, and proper inventory relief of purchased and manufactured parts.
- Schedule cycle counts, research and resolve differences.
- Maintain receiving and stocking areas to meet or exceed company housekeeping and safety standards.
- Resolve quality issues involving materials. Issue CAR’s and follow up for resolution.
- Establish, track, audit, and report Business Unit and corporate inventory record accuracy on a regular basis.
- Develop, maintain, and conduct all training required for shop floor and supervisory personnel who have direct accountability for inventory accuracy in their facilities
- Coordinate ECN & IANs between all constituents (planners, product engineers, BOMs, buyers, and business units) to ensure smooth, efficient, and timely model and component changeovers in support of Business Unit objectives while minimizing scrap and obsolete inventory.
- Identify and work with other modules to set up inventory related master data of new parts.
- Record and assess all materials quality, movement, and expenditure.
- Prepare and file detailed records on procurement activity, quantity, price increases, and vendors.
- Directs inventory control, shipping and receiving, cycle counting and materials storage.
- Maintains inventory levels to ensure deliveries occur within customer timelines.
- Maintains and ensures accuracy of the SAP inventory system including pricing.
- Oversees shipping and receiving functions related to purchased parts and finished goods.
- Identifies opportunities to reduce transportation costs and charges.
- Performs write-offs on damaged or obsolete inventory to reflect accurate value of inventory.
- Establishes procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory.
- Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements
- Responsible for exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery
Qualifications:
- Four year college degree -preferred
- Three – five years of manufacturing experience as a material specialist, planner, buyer or a similar replenishment team role with knowledge of traditional MRP, demand flow manufacturing, Kan Ban techniques, vendor management, and vendor replenishment programs.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems.
- Lean Manufacturing experience desirable.
