General Summary:

Directly manage and execute strategic objectives related to materials management.  Support corporate net sales objectives, and key performance indicators while striving to continually meet or exceed company on-time shipping goals by providing timely distribution of materials/parts to the various manufacturing areas. Ensure that inventory accuracy goals are met and maintained.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate with plant scheduling and purchasing to identify and resolve key material issues preventing customer on time delivery and schedule attainment.
  • Coordinate stocking requirements with material specialists at other campus facilities as well as purchasing team.
  • Monitor, ensure accuracy and timely receipts of inventory manufactured and purchased parts executed by hourly inventory control employees.
  • Ensure the availability to manufacturing areas of parts and raw materials to ensure production delays do not occur through organized stocking, labeling, and proper inventory relief of purchased and manufactured parts. Research and proactively resolve differences.
  • Resolve quality issues involving materials. 
  • Identify and work with other departments to set up inventory related master data of new parts.
  • Prepare and deliver shop floor paperwork related to the warehouse management and inventory management function.  Determine what paperwork should be produced and when.
  • Identify, document, and implement changes that need to be made to existing processes and procedures
  • Coordinate and execute cycle counting activities
  • Lead and implement inventory reduction projects.
  • Coordinate engineering change notices & item activity notices between all constituents (planners, product engineers, bill of materials, buyers, and business units) to ensure smooth, efficient, and timely model and component changeovers in support of business unit objectives while minimizing scrap and obsolete inventory.
  • Direct supervision and development of hourly inventory control employees.  Answer daily inquiries and assist in solving problems.
  • Directly manage receiving and stocking areas to meet or exceed company housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Work with outside companies and supply chain to resolve inventory and quality issues. Assist in the qualification of new parts for production.
  • Coordinate stocking requirements with material specialists at other campus facilities.

    Continually develop, refine, and improve the company’s Enterprise Management System

    Establish and take ownership to track, audit, and report business unit key performance indicators related to inventory and materials management.

    Develop, maintain, and conduct all training required for shop floor and supervisory personnel who have direct accountability for inventory accuracy in their facilities

    Coordinate and execute year-end close cutoffs and inventory counts

    Manage personnel to optimize labor costs, enforce safety practices and procedures, and proper employee development.

    Job Qualifications: 

    Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year college program.


    Between 3-5 years of work experience is required.


    SAP experience preferred, but not required.
