General Summary:

The Foam Operator is responsible for injecting foam resins in panels and doors to prepare them for use in downstream operation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conform to all safety guidelines while performing duties and operating equipment
  • Identify work to be performed via SAP or MII work center priority
  • Verify resin levels on day tank site glasses and scale for refrigerant tanks (reload/change tanks as needed).
  • Validate that machine startup procedure has been properly followed and the machine is set up for proper panel thickness.
  • Load material handling conveyors with prepped panels.
  • Prep panels for transfer into foam press by spraying parting agent onto required areas of panels.
  • Lay shrink wrap material over the top of prepped panels.
  • Transfer material handling plates from in-feed conveyors into foam press.
  • Program machine controller to correct shot size per panels being foamed.
  • Inject foam resins and allow curing (cure times vary depending on the panel thickness/type) and insert yellow cap plug in foam shot hole.
  • Transfer material handling plates out of foam press and onto out-feed conveyors.
  • Remove shrink wrap material and scrape, cut away, and wipe down excess resins that have seeped to the exterior surface of the panel.
  • Take panels off the out-feed conveyor, load to material handling carts and stage for assembly.
  • Operate overhead lifting and material handling equipment, as needed according proper safety guidelines
  • Perform daily operator preventive maintenance tasks and daily operator housekeeping tasks (5S)
  • Other duties, as assigned
    Minimum Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma or GED, required
  • Between 6-12 months general machine operation or prior manufacturing experience
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Ability to read measuring devices; use caliper and thickness gauges, and distinguish between various thickness and type of material
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of concentration to ensure quality work
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively

Physical Demands:

  • Must lift up to 50-75 lbs. on a routine basis
  • Standing for a minimum of 8 hours per day
  • Continuous lifting, kneeling, pulling, bending, etc.
