General Summary:

The Division Commodity Manager oversees and manages critical suppliers and commodities with heavy divisional associations and relationships.

 

In addition to traditional commodity manager responsibilities, you will be partnering with the Business Unit leadership to guide and manage divisional and BU sourcing strategies. Viewed as an expert in Global Supply Chain best practices, you will be called upon to lead and develop unique responses to complex business challenges. By taking ownership of total supplier performance and efficient Supply Chain procedures, you will coordinate and lead a team in all aspects of Supply Chain.

 

Responsibilities include the strategic management of supply chain activities using business acumen, supply chain relationships and business integrity in a way that supports business unit goals of LEAN manufacturing, growth, lowest cost of acquisition, competitive pricing, low-cost production, and high-quality parts.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage a team of purchasing specialists with a strong commitment and culture of service to all internal customers and supply partners. 
  • Participate and provide sourcing leadership in the divisional management reviews that include forecasting demand, supply chain response, demand/supply reconciliation (S&OP type activities) by reviewing data, identifying gaps and scenarios, guiding final decision making on open items and trade-offs, and preparing escalations for executive review where appropriate.
  • Support Supplier capacity management by conducting capacity assessments and collaborate with the commodity managers, sourcing manger and other key business partners to expand required supply options as well as supply flexibility ensuring that material availability is not the bottleneck for smoother order fulfillment.
  • Represent sourcing in new product initiative projects and coordinate supply base related activities with Business unit engineering teams as well as with Commodity Managers. Conduct all related sourcing project management activities (including project milestone activities)
  • Manage inventory and establish controls to ensure Greenheck Group is operating at the highest level of performance based on key performance metrics and minimized supply chain risk. Also, Control costs of excessive inventory.
  • Lead negotiation of agreements, contracts, and alliances with well run businesses both new and existing suppliers, which create the framework for purchased components and information to flow seamlessly from raw material to Greenheck finished products.
  • Routinely evaluate supplier performance through the use of the Supplier Scorecard program. Maintain supply options for all purchased components through development and qualification of alternate suppliers
  • Provide information including market analysis, pricing and technology trends, supplier capacity assignments, and other general trade information to Greenheck Group Business unit leaders and staff relevant to product pricing, production scheduling, new product development and general budgeting activities.
  • Budget and manage value-engineering savings for the Business unit teams.
  • Participate in and lead Business unit task forces to improve material utilization, production efficiencies and quality standards.
  • Continually review and improve business systems within the purchasing function to maximize efficiency.
  • Develop a staff capable of meeting changing needs of the company through communication, training, employee involvement and daily direction

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Four-year University degree (Mechanical/Electronics/Business/Industrial Engineering) or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills
  • A minimum of 10 years of procurement/sourcing experience
  • High level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (engineering, sourcing)
  • Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders
  • Significant business acumen and proven team-building skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to confidently present complex information
  • Results-oriented, metrics-driven leader with a root cause, permanent fix approach, continuous improvement approach
  • This position requires a person that has a proven track record of being able to work in a complex and fast-changing environment, has experiece with large scope, is able to set priorities, and has a background in Sourcing or Supply Chain roles, preferably in a Manufacturing environment with high diversity and low volumes.

 

Knowledge, Skills:

  • Strong procurement and sourcing background
  • Demonstrated business acumen and understanding of operations
  • 10+ years' experience leading and managing procurement teams with a focus on mentoring, coaching and performance management
  • Progressively responsible career path in manufacturing operations and procurement with significant practical experience in international settings
  • Strong analytical skills and process focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively to direct and motivate global constituents to meet business objectives, and possess strong presentation skills at all levels of the organization
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and unquestioned integrity and trust
