Your opportunity:

A successful Controls Engineer Sr will collaborate with the sales, engineering and production teams to define and implement control strategies for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.  They will develop strong technical knowledge in electromechancial and electrical systems, sequential programming and HVAC systems.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop new sequences using block, structured text, and ladder logic programming methods in a shared environment through documenting, testing and reviewing code changes.
  • Ensure controls meet product design functionality of required points of operation and project design intent.
  • Work with other departments in a cross-functional team to scope, develop and test program changes for new product development and existing product enhancements.
  • Support the prototyping and testing of new designs, including the interpretation of test results.
  • Support transitions from product design into production, including any necessary testing, training and automation.
  • Assist the technical support team to be the “Easiest Company to do Business With”.
  • Actively identify and implement optimal controls strategies for product applications.
  • Participate in value engineering and continuous improvement projects to improve designs and processes.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to prioritize and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Continually improve the Company’s competitive position by ensuring that the products are of the highest quality, can be manufactured efficiently and at the lowest cost possible. 
  • Apply project management principles to work assignments.
  • Creation of new procedures, processes, or relationships.  Often responsible for identifying changes that need to be made in current procedures.
  • May have direct reports and provide mentoring for employees. May also have indirect supervision over a design team(s).

 

What you should have:

  • Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year college program in an Engineering Discipline.
  • Between 5-10 years of related work experience is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in accordance with predetermined completion dates.
  • High level of analytical ability required.
  • Experience with programming or programmable microcontrollers is required.  Tools such as C.Suite (Carel), 1Tool (Carel), etc. is a plus.
  • Experience with control system protocols such as BACnet or Modbus is required.
  • HVAC experience or education is a plus.
