General Summary:

The Service Technician shall perform a wide range of activities as needed including but not limited to:  troubleshoot and field repair of Innovent custom air handlers (throughout North America), technical phone & email support, root-cause problem analysis, and training for internal & external customers. Perform start-up as requested, assist with unit setting, train end users, and field service personnel about proper maintenance and service practices.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete field repair/set-up of Innovent units at customer job sites.
  • Provide phone support to contractors, maintenance and other end users during troubleshooting when equipment is either offline or not operating to designed specifications.
  • Education of field service personnel, contractors, maintenance personnel, and other end users on proper product maintenance and services practices.
  • Effectively communicate knowledge of HVAC equipment and components, refrigeration systems, electrical systems, and DDC controls as well as perform job duties related to these systems. Must also be able to pipe and charge DX systems and perform basic wiring as needed.
  • Responsible for word processing and spreadsheets, CRM and document management as it relates to service reports, and documentation of procedures.
  • Work with UCT parts group on securing and processing parts orders.
  • Ability to build positive, working relationships with building owners (customers), contractors, engineers, and the Sales rep network.


Job Qualifications:

  • Work requires extensive technical or specialized training such as that which would, in the first two or three years of college or technical school.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressively more responsible work experience is required.
  • Moderate analytical ability is required. Analysis requires breaking down of information to determine its elements, historical comparisons, interpretation of data to identify trends in situations where the problems are somewhat complex.
  • Independent judgment exercised frequently. Assignments are received in the form of results expected, due dates and general procedures to be followed. Refers questionable cases to immediate supervisor.
  • Impact on results is major. May create or eliminate serious losses that have an adverse impact on external relationships.
  • Frequency of internal and external contacts is very frequent. From 51% to 80% of work time. 
  • Up to 75% travel required.
