Our co-op program runs January thru August and June thru December.


General Summary:

Innovent, a business unit of Unison, is looking for a motivated and talented Manufacturing Engineer Co-op. This co-op would support the manufacturing team in their efforts to assure product quality and improve manufacturing process efficiencies, assist in development and implementation of procedures and systems needed to establish and maintain our quality standards, and provide corrective action to resolve problems.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in shop floor problem resolution process. 
  • Identify and resolve quality deficiencies. 
  • Initiate drawing and engineering changes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement events, focused on lean principles.
  • Develop CAM programs for direct implementation to production machinery
  • Coordinate Engineering, Purchasing, Tooling, Maintenance, etc. involvement as needed.
  • Inspect nonconforming materials and provide feedback to suppliers with respect to product quality.
  • Initiate process and tooling changes that result in higher quality and productivity as well as lower costs.


Typical Projects:

  • Assist in plant layout and redesign 
  • Development of quality manuals or of critical equipment and processes.
  • Introduction of new products and product redesigns.
  • Design and fabrication of new production equipment or product design changes.
  • Implementation of cost reduction/value engineering projects.
  • Opportunities to develop a project and see it through to implementation and evaluation.



  • Pursuing an Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical engineering degree from an accredited school.
  • Entering junior year preferred.
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are necessary in order to act as a liaison between engineering, production, and members of the manufacturing team.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.


Work Hours & Compensation:

  • Typical Work Hours: 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday (*with flexibility for commute/classes)
  • Compensation: Hourly Wage (bi-weekly pay-period)
  • Co-op cycle runs twice per year: 
    • Spring semester: December/January-August. 
    • Fall semester: June-December
