The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for supporting the Benefits Manager and leading the Payroll Coordinators in corporate payroll processing, analysis, auditing, and ongoing administration of the company's adherance to local, state and federal laws and regulations. Serves as a subject matter expert in payroll design and implementation to optimize existing processes and lead the adoption of new internal and external opportuntiies to maximize efficiencies.

 

As the Senior Payroll Analyst, you will:

  • Supervise the Greenheck Group's payroll team
  • Coordinate with IT and HR to ensure the payroll processes are well communicated and administered, including developing and conducting trainin where required
  • Leads and processes weekly payroll; ensures employees are paid accurately, timely and in compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for internal and external payroll compliance under the general direction and guidance of HR leadership.
  • Performs reporting on a regular and ad hoc basis within payroll and time collection systems.
  • Develop payroll processes, procedures, guidelines, and documentation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable state and federal taxation, wage and hour laws, and changes in company policy and contract language as they pertain to pay rate and other applicable changes.
  • Daily activities to including the following: entering timesheets, printing time reporting reports, revising time transactions (i.e., missing or incorrect time hours reported), updating and maintaining employee information in time management system.
  • Weekly activities to include the following: inputting weekly hours, voiding checks/manual checks as required. Exporting payroll from time management system and importing into company’s computer system. Final review and approval of weekly payroll register. Distributing paychecks. Preparing weekly payroll budget analysis (actual versus budget) including ensuring that all employees are classified in their proper departments.
  • Monthly & quarterly activities to include, but not limited to, completion of payroll journal, payroll taxes and reports.
  • Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data. Typically uses automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, paid time off accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management.
  • Stays current on payroll systems to achieve alignment with HR Benefits and other HR and accounting related systems, and to ensure effective administrative support.
  • Facilitates management and employee understanding of payroll procedures.
  • Assists with the annual 401(k) audit and provides accurate information to auditors.
  • Responsible for working with auditors on yearly general ledger audits.
  • Responsible for tax compliance, including but not limited to quarterly and annual filings (e.g., W-2s, 940s, and 941s).
  • Process monthly sales tax; electronically file; process monthly reports; and keep update with current rate changes, new jurisdictions, setting up new counties, and verifying no changes at current locations.

 

As the Senior Payroll Analyst, you should have:

  • Four-year degree in business, accounting, finance or human resources management
  • 5 years of progressively more responsible work experience 
  • Experience with Ultipro and/or SAP is preferred 
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and analytical ability is required
