Your Opportunity:
As a Tool & Die Supervisor for Greenheck, you will have the opportunity to directly supervise our team of Tool & Die Makers at our Machine Development Center (MDC). You will also support corporate objectives by striving to continually improve and maintain Greenheck’s machine and tooling capabilities to support the manufacturing process.
What you’ll be doing:
- Direct supervision of the Tool and Die team members at MDC for effective utilization of personnel, equipment, and facilities. Maximize quality and minimize production costs.
- Determine MDC workload and manage and communicate priorities to employees to ensure resources are focused on company-critical projects.
- Handle emergency repair situations as needed. Communicate job status to customers. Estimate job time and completion dates.
- Ensure all Tool and Die locations have the tools, supplies, and equipment necessary to complete the work efficiently. Manage tooling, materials, supplies and bin fill purchasing.
- Maintain current knowledge of machining/tooling technology as well as Greenheck product lines and manufacturing capabilities.
- Oversee the implementation of new machines into production. Troubleshoot any start-up problems and make recommendations regarding their resolution.
- Oversee maintenance of all shop equipment and facilities to ensure they are in good working order.
- Ensure safety practices are implemented, including the wearing of protective equipment by area personnel when appropriate.
- Ensure all tool and die operations meet or exceed company safety and 5S standards.
- Address quality or process problems associated with machinery or tooling with engineering and manufacturing personnel.
- Complete routine administrative tasks such as completing time and attendance forms, reviewing vacation schedules. Makes recommendations regarding apprenticeship reviews and disciplinary action as needed.
- Maintain good working knowledge of current labor agreements and applicable government regulations.
- Promote effective working relationships with maintenance and other departments.
- Promote cross training to develop a flexible workforce. Assist with all job processes when required. Develop Tool and Die personnel in the areas of troubleshooting, workmanship and productivity. Utilize individuals based on their personal strengths.
- May include supervising 2nd and 3rd shift skilled trades.
What you should have:
- 2 Year / Associate Degree preferred or an Associate Degree in Mechanical Design
- Machine Tool Diploma with 3-5 years of relevant work experience is recommended
