General Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting the Benefits & Leave Team and consulting on employee benefit plan administration, execution and adherence to corporate plan provisions and governmental regulations. The Benefits Specialist Sr will have oversight of carriers or service providers for whom Greenheck has contracted to administer our benefit programs. This position will also lead benefit projects such as annual enrollment, execution of plan audits, and other benefit projects.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure company compliance with federal and state laws, including reporting requirements.
- Evaluate, update, and distribute enrollment materials, plan documents, summary plan descriptions (SPD), summary of benefits and coverage (SBC), summary annual reviews (SAR), 1095C, and other plan filings.
- Identify participant communication and educational needs on benefit plans and programs.
- Acts as a liaison to third party vendors including crafting and maintaining vendor performance criteria and tracking tools to monitor employee engagement and efficiency of each benefit program.
- Serves as Tier 3 escalation point for carrier and/or member issues. Identify problem areas of carrier service delivery processes, troubleshoot issues, recommend, and implement solutions.
- Assists in annual benefits open enrollment process, including planning meetings, system modifications, testing, employee education and supporting HR representatives.
- Serves as the subject matter expert for internal and external benefits administration.
- Develop benefits administration processes, procedures, guidelines, and documentation.
- Identify areas for improvement in program delivery, vendor performance and vendor integration.
- Lead benchmarking and evaluation of potential initiatives relative to benefit plan design, including running financial models and performing related analyses in conjunction with benefit consultants and vendors and other partners.
- Provide consultation, guidance and/or training to employees and management in area of expertise (e.g., policies and procedures).
Job Qualifications:
- Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year college program in human resources management, business or communications.
- 3 years of progressively more responsible work experience in benefits administration is required.
- Strong knowledge of current regulatory requirements affecting benefit administration including but not limited to ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA and other regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organization and time management skills
- Excellent analytical abilities
- Digital literacy including PowerPoint and Excel
