Direct supervision of manufacturing engineers on the GPS Core Team.   Position reports directly to the GPS Manager.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Work closely with Production Supervisors and CI Leaders to ensure their development in continuous improvement activities.
  • Work closely with Plant Managers to coordinate and perform Lean operational assessments; provide recommendations and support for Lean initiatives.
  • Provide direct leadership and support for 5S+1.
  • Support Daily Management, answer questions, and assist with shop floor opportunities.
  • Support and develop “best practices” and make sure they are consistently applied throughout the organization.
  • Lead and facilitate Pit stop (kaizen) events and Pit Stop Report Outs.
  • Instruct and develop training initiatives to support manufacturing; including remote facilities.  (Some travel is required.)
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership for manufacturing process improvements and equipment.
  • Identify and implement improvements to material utilization, plant layouts and machinery efficiency.
  • Mentor/Coach certified and potential GPS Champions.
  • Apply and communicate Lean principles to optimize quality, productivity, on-time delivery, and operational efficiencies resulting in improved customer satisfaction.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to direct reports.


Job Qualifications:

Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year college program.  Or an Associate’s degree with equivalent work experience.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of lean manufacturing
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions.
  • Strong process orientation: Detail oriented, logical and methodological approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills; the ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties and take direction from more than one individual.
  • Proficient with core Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with SAP preferred.

  • Design Engineer
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
