The Greenheck Group is looking for a dynamic leader to drive our manufacturing processes to the next level.  The leader in the position will collaborate with executive team to further evolve Greenheck Group’s North American Manufacturing Strategy deployment. Provide the overall vision and the development of long-term strategic direction of achieving operational excellence in support of business unit objectives in the areas of safety, quality, maintenance, automation, productivity, speed to market, facility layout, S&O planning, continuous improveent (lean manufacturing), training and talent development. The Director, Manufacturing Excellence has multi-site/regional responsibilties with a scope of impact that manages cost centers in excess of $5M+ and coordinates capital expenditures and budgeting process for the Greenheck Group of around $100M. 


General Summary:

The Director, Manufacturing Excellence supports the entities and business units with overall strategic direction and leadership to ensure manufacturing facilities are operating effeciently, according to Greenheck Group values & culture, with a strong focus in the areas concerning continuous improvement, new technology, and operational uptime. This specifically includes the development of long-term strategic plans for achieving operational excellence in support of the business unit objectives in the areas of safety, quality, maintenance, automation, productivity, speed to market, facility layout, S&O planning, training, and talent development. Provides vision and leadership for driving a culture of continuous improvement through the continued enhancement, implementation, and sustainment of the Greenheck Performance System.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision of the manufacturing related shared service operations; this may include maintenance, stamping, manufacturing engineering, and manufacturing excellence shared services team members.  
  • Ensure that all equipment, facility infrastructure, and factories are operational and able to produce high quality products up to Greenheck Group standards.
  • Promote and support safety initiatives and a culture of safety.
  • Keep abreast of and promote new manufacturing technologies across the Greenheck Group.
  • Provide thought leadership, along with HR and BU leadership, to establish compensation, benefits, and working environment package that aligns with being an employer of choice.
  • Help the BU management teams drive continuous improvement of productivity and efficiencies through effective employee relations, employee involvement, manpower planning, lean manufacturing principles, training, and synchronized manufacturing, leveraging and leading best practices to ensure consistency through the Greenheck Performance System.
  • Develop and aggregate current/future state manufacturing capacity and utilization plans for the Greenheck Group. 
  • Partner with general managers and Directors of Manufacturing to develop business unit and site operations capital investment plans. 
  • Understand and comply with applicable labor agreements and governmental regulations. 


Job Qualifications:

Must understand and consistently demonstrate the Greenheck Group culture, and eagerly pass this understanding on to employees. Must have at least 15 years of experience in manufacturing operations, including a role as a plant manager. Must have excellent communication skills.  Multi-site/regional leadership experience preferred.  


  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the company, including listening and coaching of front line employees as well as direction setting and candid personnel discussion with the management team.
  • Ability to evaluate plant operations and recommend changes that will significantly improve quality, safety, efficiency and production speed.
  • Ability to think strategically and help business unit leaders establish plans for the plants.
  • Willingness to “roll up your sleeves” as a leadership tool.
  • Approachable, engaged and “walk the talk” on the values. 
  • Experience with continuous improvement, project management and lean operational principles is required. 
  • In-person time investment at regional plant locations.
  • Provide leadership and direction to each BU with GFC’s Cap-X budget, included tracking spend information, and providing expertise and support on individual projects.
  • SAP experience preferred but not required.
  • Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a minimum of a regular four-year college program.
