You're Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive and experienced General Counsel to provide strategic direction and leadership over legal and compliance programs for Greenheck Group.  The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of relevant legal experience and ample experience in corporate compliance. 

 

We are looking for an individual that is talented, highly motivated, organized and has sound business acumen with the enthusiasm to learn and adapt quickly.  As General Counsel, this position is responsible for providing legal advice/counsel to senior management, drafting and reviewing contracts, liaising with the outside counsel, and establishing and/or overseeing corporate compliance programs.

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage the organization's legal matters including designing and overseeing the Company's policy and position on legal matters including corporate, legal, regulatory and compliance risk areas.
  • Provide expert and strategic legal advice to senior management that is consistent with Company’s vision, strategies, values, and operating policies.
  • Partner with business unit and heads of departments (i.e. human resources, engineering, procurement, sales, finance, manufacturing) as a trusted advisor on legal or compliance matters
  • Identify & mitigate legal risk to the organization (i.e. protecting intellectual property, advising on various safety or environmental regulations).
  • Prepare documents for legal proceedings and represent the Company in proceedings, when appropriate.
  • Assist in directing, developing and managing corporate compliance and regulatory programs.
  • Maintain corporate records and all other aspects of corporate compliance.
  • Oversee business transactions and agreements (i.e. customer and vendor agreements, acquisition of real estate, M&A, purchasing agreements, business partnerships, licensing agreements).
  • Counsel on employee matters (e.g., employment agreements, consulting agreements, employee benefits, and other employment issues).
  • Directs and oversee work performed by outside counsel and acts as a liaison between outside counsel and internal teams to ensure alignment with compliance and organizational policies and practices.

 

What you need: 

 

  • At least 5 years of relevant in-house corporate counsel or practicing attorney with law firm experience.
  • Experience with corporate compliance as well as labor & employment, transactional, and corporate law is preferred.
  • Broad level knowledge of a wide range of legal matters (corporate law, labor law, etc).
  • In-depth understanding of how legal issues affect organizations.
  • Understands and embodies Greenheck Group’s core values.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Excellent judgment and analytical skills.
  • First-class interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to anticipate legal issues or risks and to “see around the corner”.
  • Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action.
  • Well-versed in overall business operations with manager-level financial acumen.
  • The ability to actively engage with business partners and provide practical legal advice.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in WI or licensed in at least one U.S. jurisdiction with the ability to become licensed in Wisconsin within 6 months of hire.
