Your Opportunity:
As an IT Support Technician, you will assess and recommends hardware and software configurations, installs and maintains PC hardware, software and vendor provided systems. "Systems" may include other computer hardware and networking equipment. Performs diagnostics and trouble shooting. Provides technical assistance and training to end users and technical staff. This individual works directly with end users and must be able to effectively communicate procedures and solutions at all levels of user experience in a professional manor. Must be able to work flexible hours to assist with computer maintenance and upgrades. Considerable initiative and independent judgement are exercised in making technical decisions.
What you’ll be doing:
- Inspect PC equipment, set up and test PC's and peripherals such as monitors, keyboards, printers, wireless accessories. Prepare PC's for delivery and installation at users work center or shop floor.
- Install, maintain and support operating system software, including the determination of errors and the application of corrections, as necessary.
- Install, maintain and support network and data communication hardware and software.
- Provide first and second level of trouble-shooting in resolving problems. Use ticketing software to document and escalate issues to additional support teams.
- Maintain good working relationships with manufacture vendors and support providers
- Coordinate the work of vendor representatives assisting in system maintenance or upgrades.
- Diagnose system hardware, software, and operator problems. Recommend or perform minor remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of system operations.
- Work with IT management to provide proper levels of customer service based on customer needs.
- Work with remote users across corporate environment to provide support with various remote-control software.
- Schedule activities to obtain the most effective use of time.
- Work with support personnel in all areas of IT including Networks, Desktops, Programming, Systems, and Analysis for issue resolution and continuous improvement.
- Develop policies and procedures that outline how problems are identified, documented, assigned and corrected.
- Attend technical conferences, formal training classes, and seminars to keep abreast of new hardware and software product developments.
What you should have:
- Work requires extensive technical or specialized training such as that which would be acquired in the first two or three years of college or technical school.
- Between 1-3 years of work experience is required.
- General knowledge of Information Technology concepts and procedures
- Knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals
- Working knowledge and experience with Windows 10 and VDI software operating systems; Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of networking with host systems and software to provide terminal emulation
- Basic knowledge of the Internet and associated application software
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish effective service-oriented working relationships with IT staff and end users
- Ability to grasp complex technical issues quickly with good retention of knowledge
- Ability to trouble-shoot and analyze problems
- Demonstrate a desire to remain current with new technology and concepts
- Ability to work well under intense pressure
- Must be able to work hours necessary to insure timely completion of projects
