General Summary:

Provide leadership and strong technical support for automation solutions to optimize factory costs, quality and customer service through the conception, development and implementation of new and improved manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, material flow, plant layout or product design.



Principal Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Develop processes, procedures and supporting documentation to enhance cost, quality and customer service while ensuring safety and compliance with government regulations.
    • Major drivers include productivity, material utilization, value engineering, lead time management, schedule attainment, and improved throughput.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership for manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Plan, specify and justify strategic capital investments.
  • Coordinate and implement training initiatives to support manufacturing.
  • Recognize and propose design changes to improve manufacturability.
  • Support and participate in value engineering initiatives.
  • Identify and implement improvements to material utilization, cell layout and machinery efficiency.
  • Lead and support safety, 5S and lean initiatives.
  • Lead and facilitate Kaizen events
  • May supervise support staff
  • Mentor and provide facilitation assistance on relevant projects


Business Unit Specific Duties & Responsibilities:


The DOAS BU is looking for a qualified individual with strong technical skills to lead a focused effort on automation within our production facilities.  Over the next few years we will need to develop a plan to automate more of our fabrication, sub-assembly areas and assembly bays to optimize factory costs, quality and customer service out of our DOAS plants.


For year one there will be a heavy focus on our fabrication equipment and future investments in this area. 


Job Qualifications:

Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivqalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year college program in an Engineering discipline.

  • 5 - 10 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Strong Project Management Skills are required.
  • SAP experience is required.
  • Strong understanding of Lean concepts.
  • Possess experience in plant layout.
  • Intermediate AutoCAD skills required.
  • Excellent communication skills.   



Business Unit Specific Qualifications:


Ability to travel up to 20% to DOAS plants.
