Your Opportunity:

As a Manufacturing Engineer for Greenheck Group you will have the opportunity to focus on optimizing factory costs, quality, and customer service through the conception, development, and implementation of new or improved manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, material flow, plant layout, or product design, while leading and instructing others. This is a Business Unit wide role with significant interaction with all damper manufacturing locations throughout North America.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop processes, procedures and supporting documentation to enhance cost, quality and customer service while ensuring safety and compliance with government regulations.
    • Major drivers include productivity, material utilization, value engineering, lead time management, schedule attainment, and improved throughput.
  • Coordinate, implement, and present training initiatives to support manufacturing.
  • Identify, specify, and justify capital investments.
  • Investigate, purchase, and implement tooling and equipment to support daily operations.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Recognize and recommend design changes to improve manufacturability.
  • Support and participate in value engineering initiatives.
  • Identify and implement improvements to material utilization, department layout and machinery efficiency.
  • Make recommendations using summarized data to influence key management decisions relating to budgeting, staffing, and capacity planning. 
  • Lead and support safety, 5S, and Lean initiatives.
  • May supervise support staff.
  • May mentor and provide facilitation assistance on relevant projects. 
  • Manage projects involving individuals from various departments to ensure integration between manufacturing, sales, finance marketing and product engineering.
  • Apply and communicate Lean principles to optimize quality, productivity, on-time delivery, and operational efficiencies resulting in improved customer satisfaction.
  • Provide leadership to the project management and implementation of equipment and processes being replicated across our operational footprint.
  • Coordinate the sharing and adoption of best practices throughout all locations.
  • Provide thought leadership to product proliferation and capacity management strategies amongst our manufacturing plants to optimize investment and return.

 

Some things we think you should know:

  • You will spend 50 to 75% of your time on the shop floor
  • You will be responsible for leading projects from start to finish
  • Will interact and be a liaison to shop team members
  • Will be part of day to day operations as well as managing projects
  • Must have a good understanding of Lean and 5S

 

What you should have:

Education

  • The work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year college program in an engineering discipline or an equivalent combination of related experience and education.

 

Experience

  • Between 0-3 years of related work experience is required for entry level. Experience and education will be used to determine level (I, II or Senior).
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Intermediate AutoCAD and project management skills required.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of Lean concepts.

 

Travel

  • Willingness to travel a minimum of 1 week per quarter, with periods sometimes as high as 1 week per month.  Some projects may require extended travel up to two weeks at a time.
