General Summary:

This role will report to the Sr. Director of Global Supply Chain and will be responsible for the procurement activities for the commodity focusing on Motors.


This is both a highly technical and business strategy leadership role and the ideal candidate will possess a balance of experience and skills in both areas.


Responsible for the strategic management of supply chain activities using business acumen, Supply relationships and business integrity in a way which supports Business until goals of LEAN manufacturing, growth, lowest cost of acquisition, competitive pricing, low-cost production, and high-quality parts.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Directly manages a team of buyers and purchasing specialists.
  • In-depth knowledge of  Motor Commodities including global Motor supply markets, new technologies, pricing trends and of suppliers and their capabilities
  • Devising long-term development Sourcing strategies and Support design engineering and marketing in new product development including new material, new technologies, quoting and prototype orders. Conduct all related sourcing project management activities (including project milestone activities)
  • Take the lead in supplier selection process for the Motor commodity. Develops, negotiates, and executes contracts/agreements with suppliers that minimize TCO, improve quality and assure on-time delivery
  • Study, document and report relevant economic and market data that will allow the Business unit teams to be as knowledgeable about market conditions impacting the Motor commodity so that they can make informed decisions on pricing with customers
  • This role will collaborate with other functions participate on and support teams involved with New Product Development, Lean projects, and Value Engineering programs
  • Participate in and lead Business unit task forces to improve material utilization, production efficiencies and quality standards.
  • Maintain supply options for all Motor purchases through development and qualification of alternate suppliers.
  • Provides support to site locations for chronic performance issues related to quality and delivery
  • Work with suppliers to develop assured capacity to meet manufacturing schedules
  • Executes sourcing vision and strategy for the Motor Commodity, identifying critical supply disruption points in upstream value chain, formulate an effective strategy for mitigation including best cost country objectives and developing team synergy.


Job Qualifications:

  • Four-year University degree (Mechanical/Electronics/Business/Industrial Engineering) or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills.
  • A minimum of 10 years of procurement/sourcing experience
  • High level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (engineering, sourcing)
  • Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders
  • Significant business acumen and proven team-building skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to confidently present complex information
  • Results-oriented, metrics-driven leader with a root cause, permanent fix approach, continuous improvement approach
  • This position requires a person that has a proven track record of being able to work in a complex and fast-changing environment, is used to work with large scope and being able to set priorities. Ideally has a background in Sourcing or Supply Chain roles, preferably in a Manufacturing environment with high diversity and low volumes.


Knowledge, Skills:

  • Strong procurement and sourcing background
  • Demonstrated business acumen and understanding of operations
  • 5+ years' experience leading and managing procurement teams with a focus on mentoring, coaching and performance management
  • Progressively responsible career path in manufacturing operations and procurement with significant practical experience in international settings
  • Strong analytical skills and process focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively to direct and motivate global constituents to meet business objectives, and possess strong presentation skills at all levels of the organization
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and unquestioned integrity and trust
