General Summary:

      Manage the strategic and tactical acquisition of all assigned materials.

      Position serves as back-up to designated area leadership.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Purchase items of a technical nature as needed to support Greenheck's manufacturing schedule, at the lowest cost from quality supplier partners.
  • Manage material lead times and order policies to best suit Greenheck requirements.
  • Coordinate with production scheduling, sales and engineering departments to obtain information, resolve problems and identify purchasing requirements.


  • Identify and develop alternate sources of supply for key parts and materials.
  • Negotiate agreements, contracts and alliances.
  • Maintain knowledge of and inform other departments of new developments in material, equipment and techniques.
  • Evaluation of suppliers for purchased materials in coordination with the company production schedule, world class replenishment strategies and delivery standards.
  • Maintain quality standards and resolve problems related to unsatisfactory materials received.
  • Participate in value engineering projects.
  • Maintain and study a portfolio of relevant economic and market data.
  • Maintain an excellent working knowledge of all Greenheck products and processes.
  • Maintain material and procurement data such as to run a paperless procurement flow.


Job Specifications:

  • Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year college program or equivalent experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressively more responsible work experience is required.
  • Familiarity with the raw metals, motors or other technical components industry/markets a plus. Global sourcing experience is a plus.
  • Candidate must be both strategic and tactical in nature. Capable of learning a technical commodity or industry.
  • Familiarity period 12 to 24 months.
  • Moderate analytical ability required.  Analysis requires breaking down of information to determine its elements, historical comparisons, interpretation of data to identify trends in situations where the problems are somewhat complex.
