General Summary:

Develop advanced technology capabilities that are synergistic with Greenheck’s current products and markets. This is a market-driven approach where preferred outcomes are identified.  Often times, these outcomes have no known commercially available solutions available to the company’s new product development teams.  However, having a viable solution would create a competitive advantage for Greenheck in terms of greater performance, lower costs, or both. 

 

This applied research and development position identifies and develops the technology necessary to achieve new capabilities in materials from polymers to composites, advanced simulation tools used to create product performance advantages, and advanced manufacturing technology capable of yielding suitable new products.  Often times the solutions include adaptations of new technology capabilities with a strong emphasis on a targeted market need.      

 

As the Sr. Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • The identification of unserved or emerging market opportunities consistent with company markets and product lines that if resolved would create a new competitive capability or outcome.
  • Rapid development or creation of seemingly over-the-horizon capabilities.
  • The ability to identify various candidate technologies and to converge any available technology into a viable, market based solution.
  • Decisive and rapid development of capability based solutions for well-defined outcomes.
  • Working with various profit center engineering departments to integrate new technologies or capabilities into the new product developments.
  • Quickly determining the economic consequence of R&D based decision-making to meet both the technology and economic requirements of any task or project.
  • Being aware of a variety of scientific disciplines and knowing how to navigate technology challenges using reasonably available resources.
  • Oversee the prototyping and testing of new designs, including the interpretation of test results.  May be required to set up and run test equipment
  • This position requires a fast-moving process where risks are taken in a managed and mitigated fashion.
  • Understanding manufacturing methods and manufacturability metrics.

 

Business Unit Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

This is an R&D function.  The ideal candidate will have, or will quickly develop skills in: 

  • Creative solutions using new or modified technologies from a wide range of subject disciplines.
  • A general knowledge in polymers, various polymer processing methods, composite material, and new coatings technology.
  • A working knowledge of 3D printing in an industrial based production environment.
  • Air movement and fan laws.
  • Have a solid base of engineering skills with an emphasis on mechanics and material science.

Job Qualifications: 

  • Several years of experience in an engineering role with progressive work history
  • An extremely high level of analytical ability is required in order to gather and interpret data and to find and test solutions to unusually complex and extremely difficult problem
  • Strong working knowledge of science, physics and modern engineering theory and tools and software.
  • 4 Year Engineering Degree Required
