Greenheck is seeking skilled professionals to join our Tool & Die team. 

 

The Tool and Die Maker Apprentice is responsible for preforming work in one of several departments in the Greenheck Fan Company.  Tool and Die Makers (Machinist) are responsible for the accurate production of parts from engineering drawings, including application of critical tolerances. Tool and Die Makers operate machines which include but are not limited to milling, turning, grinding, heat treating, programming CNC equipment, EDM, assembly and try-out. 

 

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate CNC and manual Lathes, Milling machines, Grinders and general tool room equipment. 
  • Utilize precision measuring tools.
  • Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools and dies. Sets up, runs off, and tests tools and dies to produce a product to specification.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs machinery and die sets.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.
  • Safety - Comply with all company and federal safety rules, policies and procedures to include wearing required safety equipment (PPE). Respond to safety concerns and taking appropriate action.
  • Be able to perform in a team environment and also be self-directed as situations dictate.
  • Computer - Must be proficient with a computer and have good communication skills.  Proven working knowledge of CAD software is required.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Work requires extensive technical or specialized training such as that which would be acquired in the first 2 - 3 years of a related college degree, a related technical diploma or skilled trade certificate program.

  • OR 5-10 years or related work experience in machine tool operations.

  • OR is a current certified card-carrying Tool and Die Maker Journeyperson (verification will be required). 

  • Willingness to obtain a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker card sponsored by Greenheck; if candidate is a current apprentice within the Tool and Die Maker or a Machinist trade, going to school for Tool and Die Maker or has previous industry experience and willingness to enter into an apprenticeship to become fully carded with Greenheck and WI DWD. 

 

To be accepted as a Tool and Die Maker Apprentice, the applicant must: 

  • Be selected as the most qualified candidate based upon work experience, past education and other relevant factors following an interview conducted by skilled trades employees and management. 
  • Be able and willing to successfully complete continuing education classes during regular work hours and during other hours as required. 
  • Be able and willing to successfully complete on-the-job training. 
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis. 
  • Be adaptable enough to learn necessary jobs in a timely manner and perform them within acceptable output and quality levels. 
  • Be able to perform in a team environment and also be self-directed as situations dictate. 
  • Have a good understanding of GFC safety standards and follow safety procedures.
  • Have strong computer skills.
