Job Description: Continuous Improvement Leader – North Carolina Architectural Products

 

Title: Continuous Improvement Leader – Paint                                    

Supervisor: 

Scope:   North Carolina AP           

Unit:   Architectural Products

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and assist with all paint and pretreatment processes.
  • Work with manufacturing engineer during installation of paint line through plant start-up and beyond.
  • Develop and write standard work procedures for paint in the North Carolina AP facility
  • Works with operators to troubleshoot process problems
  • Responsible for paint equipment functioning properly and chemical levels staying within an acceptable range.
  • Ensure quality expectations are met
  • Work with scheduler to ensure smooth product flow through paint line
  • Control PPE and paint line consumable inventory
  • Assist with compliance of Industrial User Permit regulations
  • Assist in developing paint hooks and hanging strategies
  • Maintaining paint hooks and fixtures
  • Work with existing and new champions to identify other improvement projects and to coach and assist them with the project 
  • Assist operators with the tools of GPS (5S, Set-up Reduction, Flow, Business Process, Total Productive Maintenance, Design for Excellence)
  • Provide leadership for the North Carolina AP facility 5S audit system
  • Participate in GPS certification courses and identify and complete a significant champion project for the North Carolina AP facility
  • Assist in identifying and completing productivity projects relating to GPS
  • Identify pit stop or quick fix projects to improve productivity, quality, flow, or other areas that will improve AP
  • Present new employee training to all required employees
  • Track North Carolina AP facility audit scores
  • Facilitate the completion of quick fixes and pitstops
  • Verify that improvements have been sustained
  • Assist with new product integration to setup effective manufacturing processes
     

Qualifications:

  • Completion of GPS training program (must complete if selected)
  • Demonstrate superior GPS skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both one-on-one and with groups.
  • Ability to organize work and keep records (computer skills required).
  • Available for periodic movement to alternate shifts as needed for training and to maintain quality.
  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Change Management skills
  • Ability to diagnose and find effective solutions to problems
  • Experience with powder paint guns, booths, and related equipment
  • 1-3 years of prior paint experience preferred
