General Summary:

Provide strong technical support to optimize factory costs, quality, and customer service through the conception, development, implementation and testing of product design or manufacturing processes.

This position requires relocation to Schofield, WI for two years. Following the two years, relocation back to Shelby to be a subject matter expert at our locations there.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:


Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop processes, procedures and supporting documentation to enhance cost, quality and customer service while ensuring safety and compliance with government regulations.
  • Major drivers include productivity, schedule attainment, improved throughput, material utilization, and value engineering.
  • Develop training initiatives to support manufacturing.
  • Participate and specify strategic capital investment implementations.
  • Investigate, purchase, and implement tooling and equipment to support daily operations and future strategic initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise for design and manufacturing processes.
  • Recognize and propose design changes to improve manufacturability through collaboration with other business functions.
  • Support and participate in value engineering initiatives.
  • Identify and implement improvements to material utilization, plant layouts and machinery efficiency.
  • Lead and support safety, 5S, and Lean initiatives.
  • May supervise support staff.
  • Support projects involving individuals from various departments to ensure integration between manufacturing, sales, finance marketing and product engineering.
  • Apply and communicate Lean principles to optimize quality, productivity, on-time delivery, and operational efficiencies resulting in improved customer satisfaction.
  • Administer internal quality audits and coordinate external audit process.
  • Review technical problems and procedures of departments and recommend solutions to problems or changes in procedures in order to enhance overall quality of processes and systems.
  • Interface with customers on quality and technical issues.
  • Obtain, analyze and respond to customer feedback.




Job Qualifications:

Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year college program.


Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a design and manufacturing environment is required.


  • Strong project management skills required.
  • Strong system design skills required.
  • Basic SAP Skills.
  • Strong understanding of Lean concepts.
