 As a Plant Manager, you will provide direction and leadership to ensure all manufacturing-operating objectives are accomplished in accordance with the company's financial targets.  The individual in this position is expected to continually strive to maximize plant operations and productivity, machine utilization, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction with finished goods and their delivery. This position also plays a critical role collaborating with other business units on campus and represents Tempered Air Products(TAP) on the North Carolina campus leadership team.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Provide direct supervision and talent development of Production Supervisors, Production Managers and Manufacturing Engineers to improve productivity including plant layout, process flow, routings/labor standards, work methods, capital equipment, and quality levels.
  • Directly manage the Materials, Planning & Scheduling teams for the TAP Shelby plant.  Actively participate in the business unit Sales, Operations & Planning (S&OP) process, and work with other TAP plants to optimize factory demand loading, capacity, while achieving delivery lead time targets.
  • Develop, communicate, and deliver key performance indicators for shop and office employees such as production goals, customer service levels, schedule attainment, and on-time shipping.
  • Work with business unit managers to develop long-term strategic plans for achieving operational excellence in support of business unit, company sales growth targets, and profitability levels.
  • Develop and own current/future state value stream maps, implementation plans, and overall plant flow.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Materials, Maintenance, Scheduling, and Shipping and Receiving to define procedures, ensure proper inventory management, improve productivity, and maximum utilization of production machinery and equipment.
  • Minimize expenses related to work-related illness or injury through the encouragement of safe work practices, use of appropriate protective equipment, and enforcing corporate safety policies and guidelines.
  • Continuous improvement of productivity and efficiencies through effective employee relations, employee involvement, manpower planning, lean manufacturing principles, materials planning, and synchronized manufacturing.
  • Optimize machine and equipment as well as provide guidance and support for the corporate maintenance initiatives.
  • Participate and lead project teams focused on improving manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor production and sales activity to pinpoint variances to budget and make recommendations regarding corrective actions and revised plans.
  • Review and manage salary expenditures in the form of hourly overtime or salaried merit increases.
  • Represent manufacturing with outside visitors such as company tours, applicants in the interview process or vendors/suppliers as needed.

 What You’ll Need:

  • Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a minimum of a regular four-year college program.
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of plant management experience required
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the company
  • Experience with continuous improvement projects is a plus and lean manufacturing concept is required.
  • Must have the ability to work in a flexible work environment and adapt to change quickly.
  • SAP experience preferred but not required
