General Summary:

We are looking for an Engineer Co-Op to join our expanding organization as we continually strive to improve our operations in NC and OK. This person may be given assignements for obtaining and updating operational information pertaining to: time studies, standard work documentation, SOP’s, 5S opportunities, work cell layouts, design changes for manufacturability or troubleshooting design errors in support of manufacturing.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:


A co-op may be solicited to undertake some or all of the listed duties and responsibilities below:

  •  Assist with and develop processes, procedures and supporting documentation to enhance cost, quality and customer service while ensuring safety and compliance with agency regulations.
  • Major drivers include productivity, material utilization, value engineering, lead time management, schedule attainment and improved throughput.
  • Using a standard format, update SOP’s as needed for process changes.
  • Participate in process improvement/lean events
  • Work with production personnel to identify and then manage work cell layout and tool changes.
  • Define and institute standard work documentation.
  • Recognize and propose design changes to improve manufacturability.
  • Manage and implement design changes and communicate with design engineers remotely.
  • Monitor and record time studies to validate standard work
  • Update drawings and 3D model assemblies to help correct any errors being found in manufacturing
  • Define and update product BOM’s associated with changes for manufacturability


Business Unit Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

This position involves working with remote engineers and assisting with projects that may affect 2 manufacturing operations. Strong communication skills are a must and will be required for this position. Temporary relocation may be required as the primary manufacturing site is located in either Kings Mountain, NC or Tulsa, OK. There is a possibility of travel to both and possibly Schofield, WI to work on projects with the remote teams.


Job Qualifications:


Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which woud be acquired through enrollemtn in a 4 year engineering program related to engineering fields of study.

  • Basic AutoDesk AutoCAD skills may be required
  • Basic AutoDesk Inventor skills may be required
  • Time Management skills may be required
  • Microsoft Office skills required
  • Basic understanding of Lean concepts
  • Strong communication skills required
