General Summary:

Provide leadership and strong technical support to optimize factory costs, quality, and customer service through the conception, development, and implementation of new or improved manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, material flow, plant layout, or product design.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, implement, and present training initiatives to support manufacturing team members and Lean efforts.
  • Develop and implement new team member training as needed.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Lead and support safety, 5S, and Lean initiatives.
  • Recognize and recommend design changes to improve manufacturability.
  • Support and participate in value engineering initiatives.
  • Make recommendations using summarized data to influence key management decisions relating to budgeting, staffing, and capacity planning. 
  • Develop processes, procedures and supporting documentation to enhance cost, quality and customer service while ensuring safety and compliance with government regulations.
  • Investigate, purchase, and implement tooling and equipment to support daily operations.
  • Supervise support staff.
  • May mentor and provide facilitation assistance on relevant projects. 
  • Manage projects involving individuals from various leadership and departments to ensure integration between departments.
  • Apply and communicate Lean principles to optimize quality, productivity, on-time delivery, and operational efficiencies resulting in improved customer satisfaction.
  • Expected to complete internal Lean Champion Certification.
 

Business Unit Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with others to research new equipment and manufacturing processes
  • Facilitate and lead Kaizen events
  • Organize best practice sharing events and training
  • Coordinate Manufacturing Excellence Center schedule and use
  • Communicate and promote new manufacturing processes/technology to the entire organization
  • Determines “best practices” and makes sure they are consistently applied throughout the organization
  • Participates in benchmarking activities around lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and automation
  • Drive change throughout the organization
  • Instruct lean and manufacturing classes to organization
 

Job Qualifications: 

Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, which is equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regular four-year degree in an Engineering discipline.

 

Between 2-6 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

 

  • Project management skills required.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Intermediate AutoCAD is a plus.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of Lean concepts.
