General Summary:

Directly supervise manufacturing shop floor operations.  Support corporate net sales objectives by striving to continually meet or exceed production plans, schedule attainment metrics, productivity goals and other key performance indicators while maintaining superior product quality, a safe work environment and exceptional employee relations.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of hourly production employees and team leaders.  Monitor work performance, maintain appropriate records, prepare and conduct performance evaluations. 
  • Answer daily inquiries and assist in solving shop floor problems.  Address all performance related issues both timely and effectively.
  • Support procedures and work with Material Specialists to ensure inventory is properly managed and accurate.
  • Organize and implement the daily production plan. 
  • Along with HR and plant management, develop required staffing plans and adjustments (including OT scheduling), monitor performance to planned efficiency targets and ensure on-time shipping is achieved.
  • Utilize the SAP ERP system to support labor and manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure all work areas meet or exceed company 5S and safety standards.
  • Schedule shop floor vacations to ensure effective execution of the production plan.
  • Ensure employees have a safe work environment by; performing monthly safety training with shop floor employees and ensure safety guidelines are followed.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel on the upkeep and repair of tools and machinery to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of applicable government regulations.
  • Assure that employees are thoroughly trained and properly assigned on a daily basis. 
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide direction to the shop for any issues with production orders including special design requests.
  • Coordinate with engineering on any design or process related problem with orders going through production.
  • Work closely with team leaders to ensure their development and that they have all the necessary tools to complete their job.
  • Develop an appropriately cross-trained work force.


Job Qualifications:


  • Requires either a four-year college degree or the equivalent professional level experience in a specialized field (or a combination of an Associate’s degree with equivalent work experience). 
  • Between 1-3 years of manufacturing work experience is required.
  • SAP or other ERP system experience preferred but not required. 
  • Continuous improvement training preferred but not required.
  • Must have the ability to work to in a flexible work environment and adapt to change quickly.
